Answered before you ask
Questions
The things people ask most. If yours is not here, message us — we answer quickly.
How much notice do you need?
At least one week for most cakes, and three to four weeks for wedding cakes and anything sculpted. Dates around Christmas and Easter go early.
If your date is sooner than that, ask anyway. We will tell you straight away whether the diary allows it rather than leaving you guessing.
Do you deliver?
Yes — anywhere in Lagos. You are also welcome to collect from us in Ajah, and for a tiered cake collection is often the safer option.
Tell us where the cake is going when you get in touch and we will sort the details out with you.
How much will my cake cost?
We do not publish prices, and that is deliberate. Ingredient costs in Nigeria move quickly, and a figure printed on a website in March is misleading by June. Every cake is priced for what it actually is — the size, the number of flavours, and how much decorating it needs.
Send us the details through the order form or on WhatsApp and you will get a real price back, not a range you cannot rely on. There is no obligation, and asking costs nothing.
Which flavours can I have?
Any of them. Vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, carrot, marble, cookies and cream, blueberry, coconut, or something we have not made before — if you can describe it, we will bake it. The same goes for fillings.
You can have more than one flavour in a single cake, which is what most people do for a bigger celebration. Tell us what you have in mind and we will talk it through with you.
Are your cakes halal? Do they contain alcohol?
No alcohol is used unless you specifically ask for it. We are a home kitchen, not a certified halal facility, so we cannot make a formal halal claim — but if this matters to you, tell us and we will talk you through exactly which ingredients and brands we use so you can decide.
Can you cater for allergies?
Our cakes contain gluten, dairy and egg as standard, and nuts are handled in the same kitchen. We can adapt some recipes, but we cannot guarantee an allergen-free cake, because we cannot rule out cross-contact in a home kitchen. If someone has a severe allergy, please tell us before ordering so we can be honest with you about the risk.
How do I store it, and can I freeze it?
Keep it in the fridge. Bring it back to room temperature for about an hour before serving, so the sponge softens and the flavour comes back.
You can freeze it, well wrapped, for up to a month. Thaw it in the fridge overnight and then on the counter. Cakes with fresh fruit do not freeze well.
What size cake do I need?
As a rough guide: a 6 inch serves 8–10, an 8 inch serves 15–20, a 10 inch serves 30–35, and a 12 inch serves 45–55. Two tiers serve about 25–30, three tiers about 60–70.
If the cake is the only dessert, size up. Tell us your guest count when you get in touch and we will sanity-check it for you.
Can you make a cake from a picture I found?
Usually, yes — send it over on WhatsApp. We will tell you honestly what is achievable, and where we would need to change something. We will not copy another baker’s signature design outright, but we are happy to work in the same spirit.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Changes are fine up to five days before your date, as long as the ingredients are not already bought. A change to the size or the design may change what we agreed, so we will always tell you before we act on it.
If you need to cancel, tell us as early as you can — the date has been held for you and someone else may want it. Ask us either way; we would rather sort it out than have you worry.
Is there a minimum order?
No. One cake is an order. We are just as happy making a single 6 inch for a quiet birthday at home as we are making a three-tier for two hundred guests.
Still not sure?
Ask us directly. There is no obligation, and we will tell you if we think a different size or date would serve you better.
