Who we are

This site belongs to Sunset Cakes, run by Mrs. Chinonye Odagwe from Ajah, Lagos, Nigeria. We are the people who decide what happens to your information, which under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 makes us the data controller.

Sunset Cakes is the trading name of The Sunset Metropolitan Confectioneries Ltd, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Nigeria as RC 1541457. Ask us for our full trading address and we will give it to you.

What we collect

Only what is needed to quote for a cake and get it to you. Nothing else, and nothing you have not typed in yourself.

• Your cake details — occasion, size, flavour, finish, the date you need it, and whether you want delivery or collection.
• Your name and phone number, when you send the order through to WhatsApp.
• Your delivery area, if you choose delivery. We ask for the full address in conversation, not on this website.

We do not ask for your date of birth, we never handle card details on this site, and we do not build a profile of you.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. There is no advertising pixel, no Google Analytics, and nothing that follows you to other websites. That is why you have not been shown a cookie banner — there is nothing to consent to.

Where your details go

Today, nothing you type into the order form leaves your own phone until you tap through to WhatsApp. Once you tap through, it becomes a normal WhatsApp message, governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy.

The site itself is served as fixed files by our hosting provider, which keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) to serve pages and block abuse. We do not read those logs to identify individuals.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for two years so that we can handle repeat orders, questions and disputes, and are deleted after that. WhatsApp conversations stay in WhatsApp until deleted from both sides.

Who else sees it

Nobody buys your details from us, because we do not sell them. The only third parties involved are the services we use to run the business:

• WhatsApp (Meta) — carries the conversation.
• Google — hosts the private order sheet and the email that alerts us to a new enquiry.
• Our hosting provider — serves the pages you are reading.
• Delivery riders — given your address and phone number on the day, and nothing more.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send the request to sunset-cakes@gmail.comor message us on WhatsApp and we will act on it within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Children

We make cakes for children constantly, but the person ordering should be an adult. This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect their details.

Changes to this notice

If we start doing something new with your details, this page changes first and the date at the top changes with it.
